Gong Journey
Gongs set the stage for this therapeutic sound healing meditation. Their rich overtones and undertones send waves of vibrations through the air. Unpredictable, without a regular pattern of beats, the mind is unable to track, or hold on to control and has to surrender into this world of sound. Relax and listen to these cosmic tones as they penetrate deeply into the body, releasing blockages and restoring balance. These tones are familiar and soothing, promoting a sense of coming home, a returning to the cosmic sea, to that place of oneness, when there was no separation. It is from here that deep healing occurs on all levels.
To re-awaken and expand consciousness.
Access Alpha, Theta and for some, Delta brain wave states.
To remember who we are. Deeply relaxing and energizing.
Acutonics® Elective: Planetary Hand Chimes: In Ceremony, Ritual and SoundJourneys
This class will introduce the hand chimes and their location in the Acutonics® system. We will address the importance of choosing the right mallet, and methods for holding two or three at a time. We will further explore the use of Planetary Hand Chimes in both private and group ritual and sound journeys.
Our inquiry includes chime combinations and intervals, focusing on thirds, fifths, and octaves. We will discuss how to use the chimes in ceremonies and for ritual celebrations, including ones honouring the cycles of the Earth, Sun, Moon, and other planet alignments.
We will discuss creating a therapeutic sound journey and how the chimes fit in the soundscape.
Acutonics® Elective: Sound Journeys
with Gongs, Bowls, Chimes, and More
In this class, we introduce all of the sound healing instruments we use to create a therapeutic sound journey. We look at how we can weave our tools together. How to listen to our inner knowing to help guide our choices of when to add an instrument.
How we can use drumming to invoke trance states and deep journey work.
We introduce the Acutonics planetary hand chimes and how they provide powerful ways to invoke planetary archetypes and their intervallic personalities. They are a great way to set an intention with the repeated focus of the journey theme.
Together we will collaborate and create a sound journey. We discuss the beginning, the middle, and the end. Students will be creating and presenting their sound journeys to the group.
A microphone is recommended to get the best experience from this class.
Acutonics® Elective: For the Love of Gongs
For the Love of Gongs is a two-day class designed to inspire new and experienced players to expand their practice and skill set. We will begin by discussing the gong and gong culture throughout history. We will explore the physics of sound and what happens when we strike a gong.
Techniques are taught that expand our perceptions on how we hold a mallet, and how we approach striking a gong. We will learn how our choice of mallet affects the quality of tone expressed. Most importantly, learners will study how to play the gong therapeutically and in an aesthetic way.
Learning the techniques will build confidence while encouraging play and exploration. This class will help to take our relationship with the gong to another dimension.
It is essential to have a gong, a variety of mallets and a microphone for the best experience for this class.
Mallet options include: a soft mallet (my favourite: Dragonfly Fuzz Bucket), heavy soft mallet (Paiste Mallets, M5, M6), harder soft mallet (Dragonfly Baby Bucket), Friction mallet (E-wand, B-Love), Marimba mallets (Yarn head on wood handle: Mike Balter 85B or Paiste M10)
This class is also offered in the summer as a 3 Day LIVE Class held in BC Canada.
